Seminar on the subject of “Actions of the Cultural Sector in the NSRF – progress of implementation and future prospects”. Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, 21 February 2013.

The Special Service for Culture and Tourism organised a seminar on the subject of “Actions of the Cultural Sector in the NSRF – progress of implementation and future prospects”. The seminar was held at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (206 Piraeus Street, Tavros) on Thursday 21 February 2013.

As part of the seminar, detailed information was presented on the progress of implementation of actions of the Cultural Sector in the NSRF by the General Secretary for Culture Ms. Lina Mendoni. Deputy Minister Kostas Tzavaras of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sport gave a welcome address.

In addition, actions in selected units of the Cultural Sector in the NSRF were presented by the implementing bodies. Specifically these units are the following:

  1. Upgrading the centre ofAthens.
  2. Contemporary culture in the NSRF.
  3. Construction of new museums – Exhibitions/re-exhibitions of museum collections.
  4. Projects in islands of theAegean.
  5. Interventions to restore Ottoman monuments.
  6. Emergency excavations and archaeological work in big public infrastructure works.
  7. Work on Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments.

Finally, the prospects of the Cultural Sector in the framework of the fifth Programming Period 2014-2020 were discussed, with a presentation by Ms. Lina Mendoni, who presented the basic points of the Proposal for creating a National Development Strategy for the Cultural Sector, 2014-2020.
